Core Books Wokingham council have devised a selection of core books that are to be used in nurseries, pre-schools and schools in foundation and year 1. The aim is for all children to become confident, fluent independent readers who love books and develop into lifelong readers and learners. By having a set of books used from pre-school age up to the end of year 1 will support children through transitions from one year to the next. At Chapel Lane Pre-School we will have two sets of these books. One in the main playroom for the staff and children to share together, and one set in the library for children to share with their families. Each core book has a label stating this on the front cover. We currently do not have copies of all these books. If you have a spare copy at home that you no longer require we would really appreciate it if you could let the pre-school have it. The core books are:1. Each Peach Pear Plus by Janet and Allan Ahlberg 2. Don’t put your Finger in the Jelly Nelly by Nick Sharratt 3. Dear Zoo by rob Campbell 4. This is the Bear by Sarah Hayes and Helen Craig 5.
