MUCHEA VEAL REPORT 18th May, 2015 There were reduced numbers today at Muchea veal sale by 75% with a total yarding of 74 offered to the buyers with keen intention to purchase and secure orders. With the reduced numbers, the market showed signs of improvement due to good buying support and saw stores peak at $600 for local bred steers suitable for re-stockers. Other steers in the yarding ranged from $480 for medium to heavy weights and $310 to $415 for light weights that were also under strong competition. Bulls bred locally were in short supply and sold to re-stockers at $350 to $495, depending on breed, weight and quality. Pastoral bulls followed this trend also and although lighter in condition, closed strongly with a range of $280 to $370. There were a couple of pens of light young stock which sold for $135 to $140. Local pastoral heifers met continued good support to see sales range between $280 to $435. Once again the odd light pen sold between $120 to $300.
