MUCHEA VEAL REPORT 13th APRIL, 2015 Muchea veal numbers this week lifted after the long weekend and a total yarding of 109 was offered and sold. Today’s market, with improved numbers, saw graziers and re-stockers keen to purchase and secure lines due to rains in the past week or so. The store market closed up on the last two sales. Any killable descriptions were sort after by trade buyers in attendance and made good values, albeit on limited numbers, and sold to $485. Local steers were the lightest yarding today and sold to re-stockers for $315 to $450, depending on weight. Heifers were of good, soft quality and showing good breeding traits and sold to graziers from $220 to $365. The pastoral heifers in the yarding were well bred and were sort after with values increasing. They ranged from $320 to $430 for medium weights and $200 to $280 for light weights. Local bulls saw returns of $280 to $300 for light plain drafts and $375 to $410 for medium weights. Pastoral drafts, although lighter in condition, did continue to sell well at a price range of $230 to $395. Two small drafts of pastoral steers sold from $265 to $315 to local graziers.
