Household Registration Statistical Data Analysis in Taiwan-Fuchien Area for April 2005 1. According to household registration data, up till the end of April of 2005, there were 7,212,408 households in Taiwan-Fuchien Area, an increase of 131,237 households, or 1.85%, from April figures last year. Taipei County topped the list with 1,248,881 households, 17.32% of the total. Taipei City came in second with 924,390 households, or 12.82%, and Taoyuan County ranked 3 rd with 578,733 households, or 8.02%. 2. As of the end of April 2005, the total population in Taiwan-Fuchien Area was 22,708,280, an increase of 81,691 people, or 3.61‰, compared to that of the same month the year before, at an average of 224 people per day. Lienchiang County had the highest rate of increase among all the cities and counties at 99.03‰, followed by Kinmen County’s 76.51‰ and then Hsinchu County’s 18.51‰. Taitung County on the contrary experienced a 9.30‰ decrease, Hualien County 6.03‰ and Yunlin County 4.38‰. 3. The male population was 11,545,156 at the end of April 2005, and female 11,163,124. The sex ratio was 103, or 103 males to each 100 females, in other words. Of all the cities and counties, Lienchiang County had the highest sex ratio at 139, followed by Taitung’s 113 and Kinmen County’s 112. The lowest was Taipei City’s 96, followed by Taichung City’s 97 and Chiayi City’s 99. 4. The total number of live births in April 2005 was 15,473, an average of one baby in every 2.6 minutes. This roughly amounts to an annual birth rate of 8.29‰, 1.02 per 1,000 population lower than that of the same month last year. In all the cities and counties, Lienchiang County’s annual birth rate of 18.78‰ ranked No.1, ahead of Hsinchu County’s 11.35‰ and Hsinchu City’s 10.47‰. At the bottom of the list was Tainan City’s 6.30‰, followed by Chiayi City’s 6.60‰ and Keelung City’s 6.64‰. 5. The number of deaths in Taiwan-Fuchien Area in April 2005 totaled 11,442, about one person every 3.5 minutes. This equivalent of an annual death rate of 6.13‰ was 0.04 per 1,000 population higher than that of the same month the year before. Taitung County led the cities and counties with a 9.89‰ annual death rate, followed by Hualien County’s 9.74‰ and Chiayi County’s 8.63‰. Taipei County had the lowest death rate of 4.54‰, followed by Taichung City’s 4.55‰ and Taipei City’s 5.33‰. 6. 10,830 couples were married in April 2005 in Taiwan-Fuchien Area. At an approximate annual marriage rate of 5.80‰, this showed an increase of 2.05 per 1,000 population from that of the same month last year. Lienchiang County was ahead of other cities and counties with a 10.02‰ annual marriage rate, followed by Hsinchu City’s 6.77‰ and Hualien County’s 6.74‰. Penghu County’s 4.63‰ was the lowest, followed by Nantou County’s 4.70‰ and Chiayi County’s 5.15‰. 7. There were 5,027 couples of divorces in April 2005 in Taiwan-Fuchien Area. A rough equivalent of a 2.69‰ annual divorce rate, this showed a decrease of 0.17 per 1,000 population from that of the same month last year. Among all cities and counties, Hualien County had the highest annual divorce rate at 3.98‰, ahead of Taichung City’s 3.46‰ and Kaohsiung County’s 3.40‰. Lienchiang County’s zero couple divorces, Penghu County’s 1.32‰ and Kinmen County’s 1.47‰ were the lowest. 8. The number of aborigines in Taiwan-Fuchien Area at the end of April 2005 was 457,891, 9,796 more than that of the same month the year before, and accounted for 2.02% of the total population. Hualien County’s 88,522, 19.33% of the entire aboriginal population, ranked No.1 in all cities and counties, followed by Taitung County’s 78,797, or 17.21%, and then Pingtung County’s 54,356, or 11.87%. Lienchiang County had only 78 aborigines. Penghu and Kinmen Counties combined had 215 and Chiayi County’s 695.
