1. Typhoon state (Data source: Central Weather Bureau)
The sea warnings of medium-strength typhoon Goni were in effected on Aug.
20th, 2015 17:30. The eye of the storm today (23th) 17:00 were at 24.1 Lat (N), 123.9
(E), the 260 kilometers southeast of Taipei; the radius was 150 km with 7 wind level,
and 50 km with 10 wind level, moving at 21 to 31 km/h, towards northeast to
north-north-west. The maximum sustained wind near the center was 40 meter per sec.
(approx. 144 km/h.), which equaled to 13 wind level. The transient wind was 50
meter per sec. (approx. 180 km/h.), which equaled to level 15 wind. The estimation
position tomorrow (24th) 17:00 is at 28.7 Lat (N), 127.4 (E), the 710 kilometers
northeast sea areas of Taipei. The latest data indicated that the eye of typhoon is
currently at east-south-east sea of Taipei towards northeast to north-north-west, the
storm is on northeast sea areas of Taipei, still threatening east and north sea areas of
Taiwan. The storm radius has been shrinking. The estimate sea warning areas include
southeast sea areas (Green Island, Lan Island included), northeast sea areas and north
sea areas of Taiwan, Sailing and boats should take extra precaution. Being influenced
by the outer rim of Typhoon Goni, from tonight (23th) to tomorrow (24th), north
areas to Yunlin, Nantou, Hualien, Yilan mountainous areas and mountainous areas
south to Chiayi have the possibility of district heavy rainfall, please noted. In addition,
strong 14 wind level has appeared in Lan Island, the waves and wind in all sea areas
of Taiwan (Green Island, Lan Island included), Mazu, Penghu, Kinmen and Pratas
Island are apparently strong, so activities to the beach should be avoided. Today (23th)
Taitung have the possibility to have fohn wind. If there is no change of the route of
typhoon, weather bureau predicts to renounce the sea warnings in today (23th) 20:30.
