Section 3: Availability
Members taking part in a production are expected to attend all weekly Wednesday rehearsals (and possibly a
few Sunday or Monday rehearsals in Jan/Feb as per the rehearsal schedule provided in advance. Principals are
also required to attend regular Monday rehearsals as per the rehearsal schedule provided in advance.
Please provide details below of all dates you know you are not available for rehearsal in the forthcoming
membership year due to holidays, work commitments or other reasons.

In addition to performing, every member of the society is expected to provide support in a number of other

Section 5: Terms of Membership
Please read the following terms of membership carefully before signing below.
1. Membership (and fees)
Membership of the society is on an acting (performing in the society’s productions) or non-acting basis for
each society year (1 July to 30 June). The applicable membership fee must be paid at the start of the
membership year (1 July) or at the point of joining the society (if after 1 July). A person wishing to become a
member shall apply to the Secretary, pay the appropriate annual membership fee and, if they are applying
to be an acting member, attend an audition. A person wishing to continue as a member at the start of a
new society year shall pay the appropriate annual membership fee and, if they wish to be an acting
member, attend an audition if the audition policy so requires.
2. Auditions
The audition policy shall be determined by the trustees from time to time, and shall set out the frequency
and nature of, and the arrangements for, auditions. A person applying to become a member or wishing to
continue as a member at the start of a new society year shall have probationary membership status until
they have paid their annual membership fee and, if required, attended and passed their audition. The
trustees may, at their discretion, terminate the membership of a probationary member who has not paid
the relevant membership fee in full, has failed their audition or who they reasonably believe is unlikely to
meet the conditions to become a full member within a reasonable time. In these circumstances, any
membership fee paid for that year shall be refunded on request. Where they consider it appropriate, the
trustees may propose non-acting membership in place of acting membership to the member. If this is
agreed, any overpayment of annual membership fee shall be refunded on request.
3. Attendance and timekeeping
Acting members are expected to attend all rehearsals they are called for as per the rehearsal schedule, and
arrive promptly for the start of every rehearsal. Non-attendance or lateness due to work, health or other
personal reasons should be advised to the relevant person at the earliest opportunity. Persistent lateness

or failure to attend rehearsals may result in the forced withdrawal from the current production or
termination of membership at the trustees discretion.
4. Conduct
All members are expected to behave fairly and appropriately towards others in the society and present a
fair image of the society externally. Inappropriate behaviour at rehearsals, society meetings and events or
towards other members, or, any misrepresentative comments about the society may result in forced
withdrawal from the current production and termination of membership at the trustees discretion.
5. Costumes
Performing members may be required to provide their own costumes and props for a production or pay a
contribution towards costumes and props as requested by the Director. Performing members are expected
to adhere fully to any concert/performance dress codes.
I confirm that I have read the terms of membership detailed above and understand that failure to comply
with them can lead to the withdrawal of my involvement in a production or withdrawal of my membership
of the society, at the trustees’ discretion.
