Welcome to ACT’s production of The Diary of Anne Frank. This is going to be an amazing show and we’re so glad you are here with us! The following
information will prove helpful with questions you may have during the production. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you need further explanations.
PERFORMANCE DATES: All shows will be at the ACT Studio
School Shows: March 31 – 9:15a & Noon
Friday/Saturday Night: March 25,26, April 1,2 @ 7pm
Saturday Matinee: March 25, April 2 @ 3pm
REHEARSALS: Mon-Thu, 6-8PM. Watch your calendar for time your character is requested to be there. You may not be required to
be at every rehearsal or the whole two hours. Missing rehearsals is not acceptable and is grounds for dismissal. Tonight is your last
chance to add to your “excused” conflicts. Please be thorough!
CALENDAR: A rehearsal calendar will be handed out tonight at the Parent Meeting (Feb 15), we have worked hard to put this
calendar together based up on the conflicts given to us on your audition form. It is an absolute priority that our calendar stays the
same through entire rehearsal process so you know when your student needs to be here. IF a change needs to occur we will make
an announcement via email as soon as possible.
FEES: $45 Participation Fee and $75 Ad Fee. Theater is expensive! Your payment helps ACT pay for rights, royalties, print material,
advertising, show t-shirt, make-up, costume, and hair. If this is a financial difficulty, please let us know. ACT has never turned away a
student based on inability to pay these fees; please note, you are responsible for the $45 fee and $75 ad fee. Scholarships are
available for those unable to meet this part of the production contract. Please speak with your producer within two weeks of the
parent meeting if this is the case. If you do not let us know, you will be responsible for the entire amount. Your Merchant/Star
Power ad is due to our publicity person (anne@actstaff.org) by March 2, 2016.
COMMUNICATION: Most communication regarding the production will come through our office, via our artistic director
(josh@actstaff.org). They will come in a bulk email, please make sure that it is not going into your SPAM folder. Please look for
weekly updates in your in-box! Verify your e-mail address tonight before you leave.
VOLUNTEERS: Our shows count on parent/cast volunteers, so please complete and turn in the volunteer form tonight as to which
areas you would be interested in helping. We believe that ACT is a community and you and your students are the foundation of
what you we do.
SET CONSTRUCTION: Although we will have a set designer, they cannot create a whole set alone. We count on our awesome parents
to help with building and painting. No experience necessary. Times will be announced in the weekly emails.
HAIR: Do not make changes to your hair without permission from the director.
COSTUMES: Please provide a garment bag for your actor, labeled with their name, by Feb 16.
SCRIPTS: You may mark scripts with a pencil only. Scripts need to be returned with all pencil marks erased by April 2nd. If we do not
have your script turned in by that date, you will incur a $50 penalty fee that the show’s publisher will charge ACT.
CONFLICTS: Please do NOT ask to be excused for events not on your conflict form.
TECH WEEK: The week of March 21st is tech week. Rehearsals will be longer than normal. This is the week where we add all the
technical elements to the show, rehearsals will run long but we will always do our best to get everyone home as early as we can.
Please check your rehearsal calendar for specific information.
COMP TICKETS: We will issue two comp tickets per actor that will be good for the Family & Friends Preview Show on March 24th.
This is a private showing, and final tech rehearsal, each cast member can invite two people to this show. Due to limited seating no
extra tickets are available.
GREEN ROOM RULES: ACT I.D. BADGE REQUIRED! For the safety of our actors, no one is allowed in the Green Room except cast,
crew, and volunteers who have been issued an ACT I.D. BADGE. Absolutely NO electronics allowed in the Green Room (including
phones). They will be confiscated. Thank you for understanding!
CLOSED REHEARSALS: All rehearsals are closed to everyone except cast, production/tech crew, and parents that have volunteered in
areas that require them to be on set during that time.
AUDITORIUM MANNERS: ACT strives to provide our cast and audience a professional experience. Please abide by the following: no
seat saving; no food or drink in auditorium; due to contractual agreements, no recording of any type is permitted.
