Role Description for English-Spanish Translator Responsible to: Rachael Gledhill, Volunteer Co-ordinator Hours: Flexible although ideally 5 hours per week at any time About Pembroke House Pembroke House is a social action centre and settlement serving the people of Walworth. We run and host numerous activities including a music academy, a gardening club, a dance group for people with learning difficulties, a lunch club for older people, and English classes for Spanish speakers. Role Summary - You would be required to translate our most important written communications into Spanish for the benefit of our local community of Spanish speakers. You could work from home, if you wanted to. Key Tasks - Translate our most important written communications, such as our activities’ booklets, and flyers for our important events, into Spanish. - It could involve the translation of some of our social media posts, if you would be interested in this. Skills required for this post are: - Fluency in both Spanish and English - Good interpersonal skills - IT skills would be useful, but not essential What would you gain? - Hands-on experience of a community organisation in a diverse community Further experience in translating communications from English into Spanish A wide range of communication skills A reference for a future employer, after you have volunteered with us for 6 months.
