Road to Revolution Presentation
For this assignment, you will use either Keynote or Powerpoint to design an informative
presentation about one of the key events leading up to the American Revolution. The project
should be twelve slides in length. The slides should include written text as well as visual images.
Your presentation should put the event you have chosen in context, describe what happened
during the event itself, and then explain the impact the event had on other incidents that followed
leading to the Revolution. Think of your presentation as a timeline of sorts. You need to cover
what happened before, during, and after the event you have chosen. Your presentation should
include the following:
Title Slide (1)
This slide should include a title for the presentation, a visual image, your name and class period.
Context (3)
This section should be three slides in length. You need to put your chosen event into historical
context. Provide background information that provides insight into how and why the incident
occurred. What happened before your event? What were the causes? If you were doing your
presentation on the Proclamation of 1763, for example, you should discuss the French & Indian
War and why King George felt the need to make the proclamation.
Event Description (4)
Describe what happened during the event you have chosen. Your description should be more
detailed than what we have covered in class, but at the same time it should be concise. Don’t
include information that isn’t necessary—you only have four slides. Use visual images that
support your writing.
Significance (3)
Explain how your event contributed to the start of the American Revolution. What happened
next? How did the incident that you selected lead to the events that followed it? Your writing
should emphasize the connections between your event and others. The last slide in this section
should serve as a conclusion.
Works Cited (1)
Provide a list of the sources used in your research. You should use a variety of sources other
than your notes. The works cited list should be written in MLA format.
Requirements
The presentation should include a written account of the selected event, as well as visual images
to support the writing. Taken together, the slides in your presentation should read like a written
report on the topic you have chosen. That means you should write in paragraph form. Avoid
using bullet points or lists in your writing. You are telling a story about the event that you’ve
chosen. You should get your information from at least three different sources in addition to the
notes that you took in class.
Use a font small enough so that you are able to include a thorough description of your event. If
the font is too big, you won’t be able to include much information. The content of your writing
is the most important part of the project. The visual images should support your writing, not the
other way around. Don’t use too many pictures or images that are too large.
The project is due by the end of school on Friday, December 11th. You should bring in the
presentation on a flash drive or email the project to me at solds@sandi.net on or before the
due date. No late work will be accepted after December 11th unless other arrangements
have been made in advance. Good luck, and bring honor to your family.
