Our country has a rich heritage of patriotic songs; America the Beautiful, The Star Spangled Banner, Yankee Doodle, The Battle Hymn of the Republic… the list goes on and on. Did you ever wonder how these songs were created? Some of them came out of the American battlefields while purely the beauty of our country inspired others and the love the author had for it. And have you ever wondered what some of the lines in the songs mean? For example – just exactly what was Yankee Doodle thinking when “he stuck a feather in his hat and called it macaroni”? Come and learn about the meaning behind our nation’s inspirational songs full of Patriotic Pizzazz. Music to Our Ears Make sure to join us for all of our special entertainment this month! Let’s Go Fishing… …And we did on Monday, June 15th at 9am after seizing a donut at Coffee Shoppe. We began our bus trip to Buffalo’s Lake Pulaski, sack lunches and sweaters in tow. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two retired gents and a young co-pilot Mason who was celebrating his 11th birthday. Outfitted with life jackets, we were escorted onto the pontoon boat and began our trip to a small cove, where we anchored and began our fishing adventure. EVERYONE caught a fish and enjoyed the great scenery – loons, herons and great summer homes. After fishing two hours, we headed back to the dock and ate lunch on the bus out of the wind – all of us saving room for our treats at Dairy Queen on the trip home. I loved the day – even catching a very small fish was a thrill! I know we ALL had fun! ~Marlene B., Resident Live Well Health Tip Trails of Orono 875 Wayzata Boulevard West Orono, MN 55391 Phone: (952) 473-6655 Fax: (952) 473-6677 According to Cynthia R.
