Happy Thanksgiving! From the Desk of Our Executive Director… Dear Trails of Orono Residents, Families, and Friends, Staff: Executive Director Cheryl Klinkhammer I’m writing to inform you that I will be taking a two month leave of absence starting November 2nd and ending January 3rd. I will return to the office on Monday, January 4, 2016. In the interim, Chelsea Adney, our Leisure Events Coordinator, will be stepping in as Assistant Executive Director under the direct supervision of Jennifer Blasko, who is a Float Executive Director for Ebenezer Management Services. Jennifer will be at Trails of Orono 2-3 days per week; Chelsea will be there 5 days per week. There will be additional staffing added to the activity department to cover for Chelsea during my absence. November 2015 Speaker Series “Memories of 1948” Join us on Tuesday, November 17th for our monthly Speaker Series by Full Bloom! “The first prefab, post war housing1. was starting to appear in order to solve housing shortages as they could be built quickly to accommodate the growing need and were cheap to build and for people to buy. The quality was not great but they did enable the baby boom after the war years by providing young couples with a home to start their family. Television was first regarded by many as “radio with pictures,” and although a set cost about $400—a substantial sum at the time—TV was soon “catching on like a case of high-toned scarlet fever. That year, Alfred M. Butts, an architect, created a new board game that would sell in the millions. It was an election year and Chicago Daily Tribune got the results wrong!! We had so much fun learning new art techniques and painting with them last year and this year is to be no different! They will be coming to Trails monthly to work on various art projects with us! Join us on Friday, November 20th at 1:30 for a compelling look at the idea, the construction and the meaning behind one of the most recognizable symbols in the world. Our guest speaker is David Jones of Minneapolis. He has been speaking to a wide range of audiences since 1996. He has made over 400 presentations to more than 11,000 people.
