Retirement System (OPERS) or State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) or an Alternative
Retirement Plan (ARP). The ARP is a defined contribution plan as qualified under section
401(a) and 403(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. The ARP provides participants with
investment flexibility, portability of accumulated account balances, quick vesting and a variety of
distribution options.
