If you have unfinished work from the daily class time, you will need to place it in your Homework Binder to finish at home, and you should turn in any unfinished work the next day. Your Agenda will be used as a pass to leave class for any reason. Grading/Late Work Policy: 1. Students are responsible for all make-up work. All missing work can be located in the “Missing Work” folders located in the room for any day the student was absent. The student will have the same number of days he/she was absent to complete and return all make-up work. 2. All work should be turned in on time! Work that is turned in one day late will be counted at no more than 70%. After one week, late work will not be accepted and a zero will be assigned for that grade. Tutorials: Tutorials can be scheduled on some mornings after 7:30 a.m. You must have a signed pass to morning tutorials! Be sure to schedule your appointment with me BEFORE coming to school early. Students are not allowed in the 6th Grade hallway without a pass. I am also available some evenings until 4:30 for after school help. Please schedule these appointments in advance. Tutorials are for extra help in understanding a concept, extra practice, or completing make-up work. Conference: 12:55 – 1:40 Room C202 tnelson@dentonisd.org Phone Number 940-369-1678 Rewards: Reward tickets will periodically be awarded to students for a number of reasons. For example, students who are following classroom and school rules, showing courtesy and respect to teachers and peers, working cooperatively, etc. When you receive a ticket, you should write your first and last name on the back of the ticket and drop in the ticket in the bucket for your class period. Class period buckets are located on the shelves as the back of the room. Each Friday, 5 tickets will be drawn from each class period bucket and treats (usually choice of chocolate or non-chocolate candy) will be given. Tickets will be emptied from the reward buckets at the end of each six weeks. Success: Your success depends on you! You are here because you are ready for middle school. We will work hard in this class, but we will have fun! Stay organized, focused, and ASK for help when you need it. Asking questions is the way we learn new things, and making mistakes can also be a good way to learn something new! Please continue to check the class website for more information, weekly agenda (including assignments, quizzes and tests!) and helpful updates. Welcome to Harpool Middle School! I am thrilled to be a part of your educational experience. Get ready for our exciting trip around the world! I look forward to a Great Year with you!
