Kindly note that a successful candidate will sign a service contract with TUT Continuing
Education (Pty) Ltd (TUT-CE) and not with the Tshwane University of Technology, (i.e, this is
not a university contract). TUT Continuing Education (Pty) Ltd (TUT-CE) is the wholly owned
entity of TUT responsible for all Short Learning Programmes within the university.
BUSINESS DEVELOPER (Post Level 9)
(12 months contract)

Minimum Requirements
 Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related with research as a subject
 Worked in an environment pertaining to business development and marketing
 Fully efficient in MS-Office Software, email and internet
 Specific training/skills
 Commercial skills
 Understanding commercial implications of business operations
 Gathering intelligence on customers and competitors
 Generating leads for possible business opportunities
 Sourcing and developing formal proposals and managing the presentation and writing
 Follow-up sales activity
 Business model design
 Account planning and performance monitoring
 Proposition development and campaign development
 Ability to critically assess viability of SLP (Short Learning Programme) related
proposals
 Information and customer service management
 Be accurate and pay attention to detail
 Interpersonal/Management and other skills
 Highly self-motivated individual.
 Effective interpersonal and presentation skills to build constructive relationship with
diverse stakeholders
 Should have product awareness and customer orientation.
 Good negotiating and leadership skills
 Be able to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams and facilitate knowledge sharing
 Strong communication skills: written and verbal
 Good networking skills especially to build and maintain a network of key decision makers
within the university

 Core Functions





















New Business Development and successful deal execution
Developing and maintaining relationships with the Academic community within the
university and external clientele, through networking
Developing new courses, getting them fully registered as per policy
Assisting in reviewing policies and procedures with regards to SLPs
Developing strategies for Business Development and Marketing and growing the income
generated by the company
Assisting Departments with completion of all documentation pertaining to registering an
SLP
Developing and maintaining a database of existing and prospective customers
Assisting with tendering procedures
Web content design and continuous review
Completing sales-related and marketing administrative projects that include running
marketing and sales reports, conducting research on company and other assignments.
Serving as liaison between advertising agencies and the company, print suppliers,
freelance talent, and various marketing services.
Preparing press releases, company newsletter and event announcements.
Updating company headlines and news in the corporate website.
Assisting in promotional strategies and product development.
Preparing invitations, event agenda, track payments or refunds and registration forms for
events.
Establish and maintain a centralized archive of presentations, marketing materials and
communications that is accessible to various functional groups internally.
Research new markets and determine their channels
Assisting with marketing and advertising all registered SLPs
Assist with Admin tasks as may arise from time to time
Organize maintain files pertaining to the portfolio (including electronic).
Perform other delegated duties.
