Revised Date: March 2011 VET 2443, Capstone Course Philosophy and Instructor Requirements Philosophy: This course is designed to prepare students for state and national board examinations and assurance of clinical competency. Instructor Objectives: The instructor's teaching techniques should ensure that the students are able to: o Correctly perform all essential skills and tasks required by the AVMA to ensure clinical competency. o Provide documentation necessary to sit for the national Veterinary Technology Board Exams. o Demonstrate an understanding of specialized clinical techniques, by performance, description or recognition. o Demonstrate an understanding of the state and federal laws pertaining to veterinary technicians and veterinarians by description or recognition. Course Teaching Requirements: The following should be followed by all instructors teaching this course (online and in the traditional setting): Course content is tailored to the specific needs of the program therefore, course outcomes may also vary. The goal of the course is to ensure that each student has completed all of the required tasks essential for clinical competency and is prepared to sit for the national board exam.
