Industry 4.0 Solution by symmedia
Machines ordering spare parts
The required spare parts at the right place at the right time: When push
come to shove, this is crucial because production stoppages are costly for
any machine owner. The service expert, symmedia, now offers machine
manufacturers a new solution to optimize the increasingly important highmargin service business: symmedia SP/1 Parts is the intelligent online
spare parts shop that links the production machinery of the operator
directly with the manufacturer. Based on machine data, Parts automatically
creates an intelligent shopping cart with order suggestions. Original spare
parts can then be ordered from the manufacturer with one click. This saves
time, makes machine maintenance predictable, and ensures maximum
uptime in production in the long term.
symmedia takes machinery online and develops digital service solutions for
mechanical and plant engineering. The software symmedia SP/1, which includes
the features, remote service, monitoring, and maintenance, has now been
expanded with the online spare parts shop, Parts. Parts can be easily connected
to the ERP system of the manufacturer and individually adapted to existing
internal processes. symmedia integrates the original parts lists into the tool and
visualizes them on request, using the leading standard catalog software,
CATALOGcreator®. The machine operator thus obtains all information about
spare parts directly on screen, the Customer Cockpit. Current availability, prices,
and order status can be accessed with one click. Through a direct link with the
production machinery, Parts uses collected machine data to automatically
determine demand, identifies the required wear parts, and creates order
suggestions in an intelligent shopping - precisely when a replacement of parts is
imminent. The Industry 4.0 solution by symmedia offers important benefits for
machine manufacturers and operators: Manufacturers expand the ever more
important, high-margin service business, digitize their after-sales service, and in

many cases remain the preferred spare parts supplier even after the warranty
expires. Parts makes the identification of parts and the ordering process easy for
operators. In the long term, this ensures maximum uptime in production. In
addition to optimizing the spare parts supply, Parts also instantly provides users
with all service-related information in its Customer Cockpit. This includes, for
example, an overview of the service history.
Manufacturing companies across industries are using the Industry 4.0 solutions
by symmedia to link their machines worldwide and to optimize their service. The
intelligent spare parts shop is already being used successfully by the injection
molding machine manufacturer, ENGEL Austria.
