X - Non FLSA PositionX - Non FLSA Position 6000 40 Purpose of Position: The Scholarships & Training for Egyptian Professionals (STEP) Program is a five year USAID funded project that aims to invest in Egypt by supporting the Government of Egypt to improve organizational capacity within Egyptian institutions and develop a stronger workforce through providing 100 Egyptian women with Masters of Business Administration degrees as well as 60 women with bachelor’s degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields from U.S. universities. In addition, the program provides thousands of Egyptian professionals – both government and private sector – with short-term training in fields linked to USAID’s technical sectors including Education and Training, Democracy and Governance, Economic Growth, and Health. The Communications Specialist shall establish project visibility and coordinate with media circles and sub-contractors in planning, implementing, and promoting events. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Engage with local/national media circles to promote program activities through various communications means. Develop and maintain key relationships with other implementing partners, counterpart organizations, client, and sub-contractors. Plan and implement large-scale media events to highlight program successes, coordinating with a wide array of stakeholders. Work directly with USAID’s Department of Communication to promote USAID’s assistance in Egypt. Write effective press releases. Verify branding on training program material. Manage and regularly update website, Facebook, Twitter (social media platforms in general). Train staff on USAID marking and branding regulations and procedures. Plan and lead communication activities under supervision that is primarily strategic in nature. Design and manage promotion and advertisement on behalf of the project within approved budget. Lead the development and completion of progress reports. Travel throughout Egypt to organize and/or implement outreach events. Visit locations of project activities. Communicate with entities/communities across social boundaries. Responsible for complying with applicable contract and sponsor requirements and following all IIE policies and procedures. Perform other duties and functions as assigned. Education/Experience: Bachelor degree required; preferably in communications or related field. At least 5 years of progressively responsible, hands-on experience developing organizational communications. Experience implementing communications plans requiring USAID branding and marketing. Experience planning and implementing high-profile events. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Good oral and written English and Arabic language skills. Proven leadership ability with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent presentation skills. Planning and organizational skills. Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook. Accuracy, attention to detail. Work Environment and Physical Demands: The incumbent must be able to travel independently and support event setup.
