POSITION DESCRIPTION SECTION A: Position Identification POSITION TITLE: CLASSIFICATION Diagnostic Imaging Assistant DEPARTMENT DIVISION Diagnostic Imaging POSITION # MANAGEMENT EXCLUDED BARGAINING UNIT SECTION B: Reporting Structure Your Supervisor’s Title: Team Leader / Senior Technologist in DI modalities His/Her Supervisor’s Title: Manager, Diagnostic Imaging Other positions that report to your immediate supervisor: Technologists of various modalities. SECTION D: Position Summary Reporting to the appropriate Team Leader of the modality in Diagnostic Imaging, the Imaging Assistant will assist technologists with the completion of Diagnostic Imaging procedures. The Imaging Assistant will assist patients prior to and during examinations by technologists and transport patients when necessary. The incumbent will ensure that examination Form revised 2015 and storerooms are stocked and tidy. As part of the health care team in Diagnostic Imaging, the incumbent contributes to the delivery of quality patient care. The TA will encounter a variety of patients and their families. Professionalism, tact, compassion and confidentiality are required. Other job related duties as assigned. SECTION E: MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist technologists with examinations of patients either in departments or during portable work. 2. Direct patients to and from the appropriate exam room. 3. Direct and/or assist patients to change rooms before and/or after completion of exams. 4. Assist with lifting of patients in the Department and with transfer of patients from stretcher and wheelchairs to exam tables when required. 5. Keep all exam rooms stocked with linen and supplies ensuring IV poles, sponges, sliders etc. are kept in rooms. 6. Assist patients as needed to dress or undress. 7. Remove soiled linen from exam rooms when required. 8. Assist with isolation cases when required. 9. Performs other duties requested by Technologists or Radiologists. 10. Cleans imaging plates. 11. Erase cassettes. 12. Assists technologist with paperwork; tracking, editing and scanning as required. 13. Transport biopsy specimens when required. 14. Performs patient history/questionnaire when required. 14. Performs other reasonable job related duties when required. SECTION F: MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION: Grade 12 Current CPR certification Good attendance and work record. SECTION N: PHYSICAL DEMAND: Ability to perform work of substantial physical demand (lifting, carrying, bending, walking). Ability to work independently and function as part of a team.
