JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Technologist manages and directs process, flow, and the work level of technologists and assists with procedures when necessary. Develops procedures and instructs technologists in specialized equipment usage and in new or unusual procedures as set forth by the Radiology staff. Prepares performance evaluations, formal requests, and recommendations for promotion, reassignments, and other status changes for approval by the Executive Director. Provides training plans, conducts informal training, and implements provisions of hospital wide programs. The Senior

Technologist must have both administrative and technical knowledge as they pertain to all areas of Diagnostic Imaging.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Support

Assures staffing of an adequate number of appropriately trained Technologists according to the current and future volumes and diagnostics tests.

Plans scheduling of patients for examinations. Flex off staff when necessary

Researches equipment and service needs with venders for selection of new products and or equipment: recommends and / or participates in the selection of new medical and non medical equipment for departments. Assist with site preparation and installation of new equipment: maintains stock level of all material and supplies used in Radiology assist with computer system maintenance including trouble shooting to minimize computer downtime; update current system as necessary.

As a working supervisor, carries out the normal duties required of a staff technologist.

Establish, applies, and maintains quality assurance policies and procedures to provide quality technical radiographic services such as maintaining the integrity of film quality and chemical in accordance with department, hospital, and

SUBJECT: Lead Technologist HRJD.144 regulatory agency standards: participates in quality accordance research, data collection and report writing: making recommendations as appropriate.

Supports the administrative and strategic directions of the department.

Personnel Management

Functions as a supervisor for technical staff.

Counsels and encourages staff in the pursuit of individual career goals, e.g., advanced education preparation, change in clinical area, or preparation for promotional opportunities, etc.

Holds staff accountable for operational efficiency and quality patient care standards.

Develop , coordinate and continually evaluate the technologists’ performance in all levels of the technical support team.

Monitor the progress of new employees of technologists throughout the orientation phase and assists in adapting the program as necessary to meet individual and Precision Imaging requirements.

Informs management of anticipated staffing variances. Recommends promotions, reassignments, or other personnel changes as appropriate.

Quality of Care

Implement and monitor compliance to patient care and professional standards established by state laws and regulatory agencies. Provides leadership to technical team in development of policies, procedures, and protocols that are to be used to integrate systems, coordinate tasks and effectively change delivery systems to reflect today’s health care environment

Assure that all licensing and accreditation standards for technical support team are met. Support the goals, values, philosophies, and objectives of the of radiology center and maintain compliance with the standards for service excellence.

Maintains and records QA of processors, fluoro units, CT Scanner, MRI Scanner and Medication and supply cart.

Communication

Establish and maintain effective formalized communication systems for information sharing, planning, and problems solving with all Technical Support

Team, Executive Director, and Radiologists.

Communicate pertinent information to Executive Director.

Demonstrates effective use of verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.

Professionalism

Serves as a professional role model for all Technologists.

Assume responsibility for own professional development and practice.

Promote the image of radiology through professional, political and/or community activities.

Requirements:

Education :

Graduate of AMA approved School of Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist resulting in an ARRT or CRT.

Evidence of continuing education in the Science of Radiology Technology.

Required Certification/Registration: CPR certified.

Certification from the State of California as a Radiologic Technologist.

Fluoroscopy permits for California Department of Health Services within 1 year.

Experience :

Must have a minimum of three years of specialized experience at a level close to the duties and responsibilities of this position that has provided the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Typically found in experience within this field or a field that is closely related.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist.

Supervisory experience preferred.

A strong service orientation and demonstrated leadership experience in a continuous quality oriented culture.

Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and communicate with all levels of the organization.

A good understanding of the issues facing the healthcare industry and implications for the future provisions of Precision Imaging.

Excellent interpersonal skills. Effective verbal and written skills. Basic proficiency with computer system.

Comprehensive theoretical and working knowledge of the technique of radiographic procedure; the organization and operation of a large, technically complex hospital radiology department and training technique.

Ability and skill to effectively issue and carry out oral and written instructions and radiographic procedure: plan, organize assign, supervise and inspect the work subordinates; organize, conduct and evaluate educational and in-service programs.
