ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.
Working with the Director, Digitization to research and help coordinate digital collections, prepare material for scanning, enter materials into CONTENTdm, the online software for the digital collections.
2.
Assist in the general reference duties of the library and provide reference service to the public and
IHS staff as scheduled.
3.
Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
1.
Working knowledge of acquisition, registration, and accessioning practices as they relate to historical research libraries.
2.
Knowledge of ethical, legal, and copyright issues as they relate to historical research collections.
3.
General knowledge of standard cataloging practices and principles under Library of Congress
Classification System.
4.
Ability to handle job’s physical demands, which include reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting heavy items
5.
Team player with ability to manage, lead, motivate, and delegate.
6.
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, for diverse audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MIMIMUM: Bachelor’s degree in Library Sciences, Museum Studies, or related field. Experience processing and/or cataloging archival or library material in all formats, especially visual material. Experience working in a library reference room.
PREFERRED: Master's degree in Library Sciences, Museum Studies, or a related field. Experience working with historical collections. Knowledge of Indiana history and history of the Old Northwest.
Part-time
This position is limited to 29 hours/week and is a temporary position for up to 3 years. Pay is $12/hour. No group health or dental benefits are provided for this position.
