TAIERI CRICKET CLUB NEWSLETTER
Volume no 1 27th September
Welcome back! To Taieri Cricket Club for
the 2010/11 season. Hope everyone had
a relaxing winter and is looking forward to
a hard and successful season whether you
are playing, supporting or sponsoring the
club. The has been a few changes in the
committee over the winter with Dwayne
Weir stepping up to President replacing
Mark Whyte, Michael Neilson becoming
Vice-President and also Marty Williams
joining the Committee.
There have been a few changes in the
Senior Team with Michael MacKenzie
stepping down as Coach/Manager, with
Dwayne Weir taking over as coach and
Mike Hart as Manager. Also there has
been some new faces introduced into the
team and also some old faces returning
after spells away. Some of the new faces
include George Spittle joining from
Pelichet Bay, Andy Dodd from Central
Districts, Matt Harrison from Christchurch,
Tom McKnight from South Canterbury and
Isaac Gutchslag and Harry Jones from
Otago Boys High School. We welcome
back, Marcel McKenzie from injury and
Callum Johnston from Gore.
The Second Grade has also started to take
on a new look with a much younger team
mixed in with a couple of experienced
players, and as for Third Grade they are
mostly unchanged and looking forward to
the season ahead.
As for Taieri College Cricket Mike Hart has
stepped down as coach of the 1st XI with
Phil Lill taking over and Carolyn Hooper
managing the side, there has also been
the introduction of the 2nd XI which will be
coached by Callum Egen.
Last but not least the junior club, who
completed their registrations last week
and continue to have big numbers with a
slight increase, with 17 teams anticipated
this year.
This season will start on Saturday 2nd
October for Seniors and Second Grade,
Saturday 9th October for Third Grade, and
Saturday 16th October for the school sides
and the junior club. The Seniors start their
season against last year’s Bing Harris
runners-up University Grange. Second
Grade start their season against post
Christmas Second Grade winners North
East Valley.

have all the draws for the season ahead,

member of your team on there or just a
supporter of the club. We would like to
thank all our sponsors from last year,
those returning as sponsors this year and
also the new sponsors that are coming on
board for the season ahead.
