Storing and heating Bottles
Storing
Parent/carers to bring infant’s bottles with their infants name on and keep at the
nursery. Staff member will sterilise bottles on the evening before the child is at the
nursery.
We ask Parents to bring the formula in its original container labelled with the child’s
name and date of opening, and the bottles empty. The staff at nursery will fill the
bottles with boiled water at the start of the day, so they are prepared for feeding time.
We also communicate with the parents via the children’s individual books on how
much milk their child is having. A record of how much milk each child has can be
found in the milk kitchen (pre-school side) on the inside of the cupboard.
All bottles and containers are stored in individual baskets with the child’s name card.
In the case of someone with a milk intolerance we would also put his or her bottle in
a sealed container so there is no chance of contamination. We keep a record of the
children’s allergies on a chart, which can be found on the kitchen cupboard.
We ask parents to bring cow’s milk in original containers, these are named and
placed in the fridge. Staff will write date of opening once the milk is open.
Heating
All bottles are heated using a bottle warmer, instructions of use can be found in the
kitchen on both sides of the nursery.
