40 millions electronic units delivered world wide from
Continental Timisoara


The electronic components plant in Timisoara started production in 2007 and
delivered over 40 Millions automotive components
Three new products in 2015: the Head Up display, the Accelerator Force Feedback
Pedal (AFFP) and the damping and supension control unit
Timisoara, 20th of February 2015. The central electronic plant of international automotive supplier
Continental produced and delivered from Timisoara over 40 millions electronic components since
2007. The production volume of airbag control units, electronic parking brakes, instrument clusters,
central displays is currently about 800.000 units monthly. This growth has been reached because
of the company’s strategy, which is lean oriented, encouraging the continuous improvement of the
personnel’s expertize, the optimization of production processes and equipments and the
manufacturing of best quality products.
Starting this year, the product portfolio of Continental Timisoara has been broadened by another
three new fascinating products: the Head Up display, the Accelerator Force Feedback Pedal
(AFFP) and damping and supension control unit.
The head-up display shows relevant information such as speed, navigation and infotainment data,
as well as warnings in the driver’s direct field of vision. The head-up display’s virtual screen
appears around two meters in front of the driver above the engine hood, so he is informed of all
important issues without looking away from the road.
The AFFP is an active accelerator with integrated actuator which provides the driver with a haptic
feedback for the current traffic situation. In connection with the eHorizon the driver is prompted
when he/she should either take his/her foot slightly off the accelerator or when he/she needs to
shift up a gear for an optimized fuel saving. Furthermore the AFFP also warns in a hazardous
situation and provides an immediate feedback to the foot of the driver, which the driver is more
susceptile to than acoustic or visual warnings.

-2Well-adjusted, rapid control of the damping function and the air spring is essential to maintaining
ideal vehicle position and is thus a fundamental precondition for establishing the highest level of
safety. Tires, as well, must grip the ground firmly at all times. With active damping, the suspension
system adjusts to the road and driving conditions within milliseconds. Thus an intelligent control of
damping and leveling increases the vehicle‘s comfort in every driving situation. The goal of this
interconnectedness is the control and management of these systems in one electronic control unit
for vertical dynamics.
