Unit Plan
Unit Title: Role & Function; Nurse Aides function as an unlicensed individual in the role of a nurse aide within the legal and ethical
standards set forth by the profession of nursing as regulated by the State Board of Nursing for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Essential Questions:
How does the Nurse Aide Demonstrate an understanding of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs?
How does the Nurse Aide define factors which influence an individual’s basic needs?
Does the NA have an understanding of pain and the role of the Nurse Aide?
Does the Nurse Aide recognize reactive behaviors of clients which may be exhibited when psychosocial needs are not met?
How does the NA demonstrate an understanding of communicating with an angry client or family member?
