A National workshop on Demystifying Cloud and Big Data Computing A two day National level workshop was conducted at Jeppiaar Engineering College in association with “COMPUTER SOCIETY OF INDIA” on August 23 and August 24 of 2013.The speaker of the workshop was Dr. Ravikumar Ramadoss, Senior Technology Architect in INFOSYS. The speaker had conducted 140+ workshops on Cloud Computing and Big Data across India. The aim of the workshop was to put together researchers and practitioners to discuss the future trends in IT arena. The topics discussed were based on Cloud Computing and Big Data. On 23rd August a small inauguration was kept for the workshop. A brief description about Cloud Computing was given by the speaker. The topics covered were: Myth about Cloud and Big data, Unique research methodology, Perspective on Cloud & Cloud Ecosystems. Cloud Computing is viewed as a Next Revolution / Big Switch in IT and the industry is rapidly shifting its focus from developing applications for PCs to Data Centers and Clouds that enable millions of users make use of software simultaneously. On 24th August Information about Big Data was given. The speaker provided real time present problems associated with Big Data processing. The topics discussed were: Challenges towards research trends, Big data ecosystems, Case study demo. Big Data is a collection of data sets which is so large and complex that it becomes difficult to store and process it using on-hand database management tools. On 24th August after the discussion of topics open question time was given for Participants to clear their doubts followed by valedictory function. The participants were certificates and hope they gained much knowledge about CLOUD COMPUTING AND BIG DATA.
