Lectures can be presented by traditional Powerpoint, or key concepts from the lecture can be identified and transformed into short, engaging video segments that can be delivered to students via the cloud, for example through analogies.
We need to firstly identify the concept then imagine and create ways to explain it more effectively.
By using resources such as drawings, photographs, and video techniques most concepts can be transformed into 3 to 5 minute video clips ready for cloud delivery.
Lets look at an extract from a 45 minute traditional lecture in nursing.

So there are a lot of factors that affect the heart rate.
Age is one, heart rate tends to decrease as our age increases.
The sex of a person can affect heart rate, so after puberty generally males have a slightly lower heart than females.
Temperature, so if someone has got a fever a pulse rate usually increases as a result of the vasodilation that occurs, so the blood pressure drops and the heart rate increase to compensate.
Medication, some medication can increase the heart rate others decrease it, so for example digoxin decreases the heart rate and adrenalin increases the heart rate, so just be aware when you are giving medications in the future that they can affect a patients heart rate.

Hypervolemia, so if someone has got decreased fluid in their vascular system the heart rate will increase to compensate for that decrease in fluid volume.

The key concept in this extract is factors affecting heart.
Now let’s look at the concept after it has been transformed for the cloud.
[Speaker 3]
As we get older, our heart rate tends to decrease.
A person in their 20s has a maximum heart rate of about 190, while someone in their 80s will have a maximum heart rate of around 145.
Depending on your gender your heart rate will differ.
After puberty males tend to have a different heart than that of females at the same age.
A fever places an increased metabolic demand on the body, and as a result the heart rate increases to meet this demand.
Different prescriptions, over the counter, herbal supplements and street drugs can the affect the heart rate.
It is important to check what medication a person is taking before taking their heart rate.
Your total blood volume affects your heart rate. As your blood volume decreases, the heart rate increases to compensate.

To begin the process, consider these very important questions.
What is your concept?
How can we best explain it?
Does the resource already exist?
What tools can be used to explain it?
