Proving Evolution
Project Description:
Students, individually, will provide evidence evolution has occurred over time.
Using their choice of animal, each student will research that current animal and
trace back its lineage to at least two other organisms it could have evolved from.
Students will create a PowerPoint presentation to present in front of the class to
help prove the Theory of Evolution.
Parts of the Project:
1. Visual (PowerPoint):
a. At least 5 slide (1 title slide and 4 informative slides)
b. 1 informative slide informs the audience of their animal. Please
include the following information:
i. Scientific name
ii. Habitat
iii. Physical characteristics of the animal
c. 1-2 informative slides inform the audience of ancestors of their
animal. Please include the following information
i. Scientific name
ii. Where it’s fossils have been discovered
iii. When it existed
iv. Similar characteristics to your animal
d. The final two slides are open to information you would like to include
in your presentation
2. Oral:
a. 5-10 minute presentation
b. Use your research and PowerPoint to provide evidence evolution has
happened over time

1. Pick animal to research- Wednesday, October 14
2. Research Due- Monday, October 19
3. PowerPoint Complete- Wednesday, October 21
4. Presentations- In Class: Thursday, October 22 & Friday,
