N i N a Programme Pitch Competition

Bishops and Trinity East 6 th Form

Tuesday 23 rd April 2013: 8 am to 11am

Wednesday 24 TH April 2013: 1pm to 245pm

Judging Criteria and Rules

 There are 34 participants, with ten groups of 3 and 4 individuals.

 Each group will have 6 minutes which include time for questions.

All of the criteria consist of statements which judges will rate from 1 to 4, where:

1=Strongly Disagree 4=Strongly Agree

(The higher the score the better)

1. Clear, concise, confident, professional and stayed within the six-minute time frame.

2. Creative, energetic and delivered a memorable message that made you want to learn more.

3. Product or service concept, customer benefits and market opportunity are clear, compelling and believable.

4. Business idea seems feasible and viable.

5. The group is coachable and open to feedback and suggestions.

6. The business is compelling.

Common Criteria: All Presentations will be scored on the following questions

1. Problem and market need. The pitch was compelling, easy to understand, and focused around a clearly articulated problem and market need.

2. Solution. The Product or Service is described completely, concisely and is easy to understand: with any unique features and benefits.

3. Opportunity Sizing. The Market is clearly described, sized and characterized, as are the target customer.

4. Business Model. The pitch shows an understanding of operations – how the company will make money (for non-profits-receive funding) and deliver its product and/or services.

5. Competition and sustainable advantage. The pitch demonstrates a understanding of the competitors and alternatives

6. Marketing and sales. The company describes a realistic and effective marketing and sales strategy.

7. Management Team. The company has identified the necessary employees, skills, experiences it needs to succeed. The team has what it takes to execute the plan.

8. Financial projections. The group or participant has realistic financial projections in terms of sales, margins, and expenses.

9. Funding requirements and use of funds.
