PSD (Personal and Social Development – Accredited
Unit)
In PSD this term we are looking at spotting hazards in the home and ways in which we
can prevent these from happening (Living room, Bathroom and Kitchen). We are looking
at how to use kitchen utensils safely and preparing a range of snacks using these
kitchen items. We are also going to be looking at how to keep ourselves safe when out
and about in the community by learning about stranger danger and road safety. We are
going to be learning to plan a trip to a local place (the local shop) and travel there in a
safe manner.

RE
Re this term will tie in closely with our humanities topic work. Students will be looking
at the work of religious charities and the people they support. Students will be
considering questions such as ‘why do people give to charity?’, What is ‘Zakat’?’ and ‘why
do we have religious charities?’. Learners will be introduced to parables from a range of
religions that advocate charitable acts and questioning whether giving to charity should
be a duty or a choice.
Lifeskills
Life skills this term will focus on cooking with fruit and with vegetables. We will visit
local shops and supermarkets to select ingredients from a list and will self scan to pay
for these.
We hope to use the mini bus and public transport for our frequent visits out of school.
