QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION 1. Instructional Design and Lesson Planning A.1.a. Aligns instruction with state-adopted standards at the appropriate level of rigor; Briefly explain how you fulfilled each FEAP indicator in your lesson plan. I adapted the learning environment to accommodate the different needs and diversity of student by including hard-copies of the webquest instructions, books, and journals in the group kits. Briefly explain how you fulfilled each FEAP indicator in your lesson plan. I applied varied instructional strategies and resources, including appropriate technology, to provide comprehensible instruction, and to teach for student understanding by having students use computer to find information and by giving students the opportunity to create a presentation of their choice to allow them to use their strengths in the project. I used differentiated instruction based on assessment of student learning needs and recognition of individual differences in students by providing a kit with materials for students who needed hands-on materials and computers were available for those who work best with technology. Students were given the choice to pick the Name___________________________ RED 4350 Summer 2012 roles they wanted within the group to put their strengths to work. FEAP Indicators: A. QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION 4. Assessment A.4.b. Designs and aligns formative and summative assessments that match learning objectives and lead to mastery Briefly explain how you fulfilled each FEAP indicator in your lesson plan. I designed and aligned formative and summative assessment that matched learning objectives and that lead to mastery by creating a review sheet with questions that the objectives specifies. Name___________________________ RED 4350 Summer 2012 I aligned my instruction with state-adopted standards at the appropriate level of rigor by having students’ research information on the main topics according to the standards. Students were also to present and teach the information learned to peers which allowed them to review what they had learned. Another review for students was to complete a review sheet to determine what they learned from the research they did and shared with peers in their presentation. The formative assessment selected in this project was to provide feedback to students while teams worked together. Being available to students during their research time for the project and also asking questions about ideas and information students wrote in journals. I respected students cultural and family backgrounds by having students work together and by helping each other with the project. Students had the opportunity to choose what role they wanted to take on in the group and work together to contribute to the end project. Giving students different roles allows them to participate equally and makes them feel responsible and important to their team and team members. I adapted the learning environment to accommodate the different needs and diversity of student by including hard-copies of the webquest instructions, books, and journals in the group kits. By providing these items to the students it allows those students who are kinesthetic learners be a part of the team and understand better. Students had a variety of ways to understand and complete the project if needed. Students were given the choice to pick the roles they wanted within the group to put their strengths to work. I designed and aligned formative and summative assessment that matched learning objectives and that lead to mastery by creating a review sheet with questions that the objectives specifies. The summative assessment allowed the teacher to see what students had learned and what students did not grasp well during the project. This allows the students to ask questions and find answers as a class until those questions are answered.
