Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAP) Reflection—Strategy Application Project
List how you fulfilled the following FEAP descriptors in creating your Strategy Application Project in the chart
provided. On the following page, write a paper using each line of the chart as a topic sentence for each paragraph
(i.e. I aligned my instruction with state-adopted standards at the appropriate level of rigor…)
(Old FEAP) Knowledge of Subject Matter to new FEAP
Indicators:
B.1a. Aligns instruction with state-adopted standards at the
appropriate level of rigor;
3a. Deliver engaging and challenging lessons;
A.3.b. Deepen and enrich students/ understanding through
content area literacy strategies, verbalization of
thought, and application of the subject matter;
A.3.c. Modify instruction to respond to preconceptions or
misconceptions;
(Old FEAP)Planning to new FEAP Indicators:
A.1.b. Sequences lessons and concepts to ensure coherence
and required prior knowledge;
A.1.c. Designs instruction for students to achieve mastery;
A.1.f. Develops learning experiences that require students to
demonstrate a variety of applicable skills and
competencies.
A.3.g. Apply varied instructional strategies and resources,
including appropriate technology, to provide
comprehensible instruction, and to teach for student
understanding;
Briefly explain how you fulfilled each FEAP descriptor
in your lesson plan.
I chose a theme with the appropriate resources for
specific grade levels; 3rd, 5th and 8th grades.
The various strategies, Reading Comprehension,
Literacy in Content Areas, Oral Language,
Comprehension by differentiating instruction, Word
Study/Fluency, Vocabulary and Reading and Writing
Connections set up for engaging and challenging
lessons.
I chose a theme with the appropriate resources for
growth and understanding of a subject through the
various strategies (listed above).
“Before Reading” strategies and Initial Assessments
help the teacher respond to preconceptions or
misconceptions of the theme’s subject.
Briefly explain how you fulfilled each FEAP descriptor
in your lesson plan.
“Before Reading” strategies and Initial Assessments
help the teacher assess the students’ prior knowledge.
The theme, resources and various strategies (listed
above) for Before, During, and After Reading help the
students achieve mastery.
The various strategies (listed above) help students at all
levels demonstrate their skills and enhance them.
With each strategy, books/articles and technology;
videos, websites, etc., were used to provide
comprehensible instruction for student understanding.
In creating my Strategy Application Project, I addressed the following FEAPs:
Instructional Design and Lesson Planning and Instructional Delivery and Facilitation. In
the following paragraphs, I will explain how I demonstrated each FEAP and the appropriate
indicators.
In the Instructional Design and Lesson Planning FEAP, the first indicator I
exemplified was aligns instruction with state-adopted standards at the appropriate level of rigor.
I demonstrated this indicator when choosing a theme with resources appropriate for specific

grade levels. When choosing a theme, resources and creating lessons, such as Disability
Awareness, like mine, it’s important to choose standards not only appropriate to the grade level
you are teaching, but to your students level of knowledge as well. By aligning instruction with
state-adopted standards at the appropriate level of rigor, your students can better succeed within
the subject of the theme and resources.
Within this FEAP, I also addressed the sequences lessons and concepts to ensure
coherence and required prior knowledge indicator. I demonstrated this indicator through the
“Before Reading” strategies and the Initial Assessments. Initial Assessments let the teacher know
what level your students are at to begin the lesson and once the teacher has assessed, she can
further assess prior subject knowledge in the “Before Reading” strategies. By sequencing lessons
and concepts to ensure coherence and required prior knowledge, the teacher can help the students
succeed in the overall theme, resources and lessons provided.
Another indicator I addressed in this FEAP was designing instruction for students to
achieve mastery. I demonstrated this indicator through my theme; Famous People with
Disabilities, resources; books, technology, etc., and various strategies at Before, During, and
After Reading levels. Choosing my specific theme with resources to go into the specific
strategies helps students at all levels; under, at, or above grade level and all skill levels succeed.
By designing instruction for students to achieve mastery, future lessons and procedures will be
successful as well.
Through this FEAP, I also addressed this indicator: develops learning experiences that
require students to demonstrate a variety of applicable skills and competencies. I demonstrated
this indicator through the various reading strategies. Each strategy represented a specific literacy
content and process, which helped students exhibit their skills and apply it to the reading
strategies. By developing learning experiences that require students to demonstrate a variety of

applicable skills and competencies, your students can better succeed in their previous, present
and future learning.
In the Instructional Delivery and Facilitation FEAP, the first indicator I addressed was
deliver engaging and challenging lessons. I demonstrated this indicator through the following
reading strategies: Reading Comprehension, Literacy in Content Areas, Oral Language,
Comprehension by differentiating instruction, Word Study/Fluency, Vocabulary and Reading
and Writing Connections. Each strategy represented a specific literacy content and process and
because I used a variety of these strategies, it helped the students become more engaged and
challenged while learning. By delivering engaging and challenging lessons, your students can
better succeed in all lessons.
Another indicator I addressed in this FEAP was deepen and enrich
students/understanding through content area and literacy strategies, verbalization of thought,
and application of the subject matter. I demonstrated this indicator through my theme with the
appropriate resources for growth and understanding of a subject through the various reading
strategies. When picking a theme, resources and strategies, it’s important to relate to your
students previous and current knowledge for better success. By deepening and enriching
students/understanding through content area literacy strategies, verbalization of though, and
application of the subject matter, like I stated earlier, the students can better relate to the
strategies and lessons you are presenting, becoming more engaged in what is being taught.
Within this FEAP, I also addressed the modify instruction to respond to preconceptions
or misconceptions indicator. I demonstrated this indicator during “Before Reading” strategies
and Initial Assessments. Like I stated in the other FEAP indicator for sequencing lessons
addressing prior knowledge, both let the teacher know what level of prior knowledge your
students are at that will help address any pre- or misconceptions. By modifying instruction to

respond to preconceptions or misconceptions, the teacher can better assess the level of their
students for better success in future lessons.
The last indicator I addressed in this FEAP was applying varied instructional strategies
and resources including appropriate technology, to provide comprehensible instruction, and to
teacher for student understanding. I demonstrated this indicator through my various resources;
books, articles, and technology; videos, websites, etc. that helped students understand the
subjects theme better. Providing a variety of materials and resources for a variety of strategies
helps students understand the subject’s theme better, succeeding in future lessons as well. By
applying varied instructional strategies and resources, including appropriate technology, to
provide comprehensible instruction, and to teacher for student understanding, students can
succeed and be able to find further resources to succeed after the lesson is taught.
I have addressed the Instructional Design and Lesson Planning and Instructional
Delivery and Facilitation FEAPs and their indicators. As teachers, we can now better assess
ourselves for future classrooms that incorporate lesson plans with a variety of reading strategies
and resources.
