Office Hours: Daily, 11 -12 p.m. Course Description: This course clarifies the physico-chemical factors involved in the drug’s absorption, distribution, and elimination. Along with calculating drug levels in blood and urine, given as single or multiple IV/oral doses, through resolving case studies. Lab Outcomes: By the end of this course, the student should be: Familiar with the concepts of pharmacokinetics models & parameters. Able to solve problems concerned with various pharmacokinetics parameters and figuring out the plasma/urine concentrations. Textbook: Shargel L., Wu-Pong S., Yu A. (2012). A quiz will be given at the beginning of each lecture. Attendance Policy: Be punctual. Attendance is mandatory, but you are allowed not to miss more than 15% of the lectures (two lectures), without an acceptable and proper reason. If you miss more than two lectures, you will be given zero in the course, or to be considered as a withdrawal. Only students’ medical reports are looked in. In the lecture hall: Mobile phones should be shut off or put on silent in the lecture hall and they are not allowed in the exams. Gum, sandwiches, and beverages are banned. The medical report should be presented within 72 hours after the end of cause. Evaluation: (out of 100%) Attendance: 10 marks. Quizzes: 10 marks. Assignments: 10 marks. Midterm Exam: 30 marks.
