Egyptian Projects
Ancient Egyptian Fairytale
Read a few children’s fairytales. Rewrite a fairytale. Change the setting and make the items
similar to ancient Egyptian items. For example, instead of Snow White and the Seven
Dwarfs, you could write a story called Nefertiti and the Seven Tomb Robbers. Your task is
to rewrite the fairy tale and illustrate your story. Story can be handwritten or the typing
can be done on the computer. All artwork must be done by hand unless you talk to the
teacher
Unifcation
Narmer unified Upper and Lower Egypt in 3100 B.C. The double crown was worn to
represent the unified Upper and Lower Egypt. The double crown was a combination of the
white crown of Upper Egypt and red crown of Lower Egypt. Your task is to create new
symbols for a modern unification by combining the logos of competitors. For example, what
could the new logo be if Coke and Pepsi united? What about AT&T and Sprint? Microsoft
and Apple? Look for logos of corporations that are similar and create at least 7 new logos,
complete with colored samples of what the new logo would be. Write 3 paragraphs about
what happened in Egypt to inspire your design of the logos. These paragraphs must be
typed.
Alphabet Book
Create an alphabet book about Egypt. Include letters A-Z and draw pictures to go along
with each letter. Don’t forget to make a front and back cover for your book!
Ancient Egypt Daily Life
Write a journal entry about a day in Ancient Egypt. Your entry must be at least 5
paragraphs long. Write as if you were telling someone about your own life in Egypt over the
course of one day. You can be a pharaoh, king or queen, god, priest, worker, soldier,
merchant, slave, or visitor. Research daily life in Ancient Egypt, as it will help you gain a
better understanding about life and make your story more accurate. Your story must be
typed.
Hieroglyphics
Get a class list from your teacher. Neatly write each person’s first and last name in
hieroglyphics on white typing paper. Stain the paper in tea water and mount them on
construction paper. You could make a scroll of names, too. The choice is yours. On a
separate piece of paper, give the “code,” so that your teacher knows who is who. To
accompany your project, write 3 paragraphs about hieroglyphics in ancient Egypt. These
paragraphs must be typed.

Painting Style
Egyptian artists developed one of the finest definite traditions in the history of the art of
painting. They painted figures according to strict rules that hardly changed for thousands
years. The figures they drew looked very stiff. The head was drawn in profile (from the
side) while the upper body was drawn from the front and the lower body was drawn from
the side. Important people in society were always drawn larger than other people in the
painting. These distinctive paintings were found on the walls of temples, palaces, and
tombs. Your task: Make a paper chain of Egyptian figures in profile (at least 8 total). Then,
decorate the figures on your paper chain in Egyptian style and in line with colors the
Egyptians used in their ar work. To accompany your project, write 3 paragraphs about art
in ancient Egypt.
Dress Like an Egyptian
Research the clothing, hairstyle, makeup, and jewelry of the ancient Egyptians. After you do
your research, write report that is a minimum of 5 paragraphs on your findings. Make a
costume and add jewelry, make-up, a wig, or anything else you cant think of to transform
you into an Egyptian. Be as authentic as possible. Be creative and have fun!
Pottery
The Nubians were known for their pottery. Research the pottery made by the Nubians and
create two pieces of pottery that resemble pottery that the Nubians traded and used during
their lifetime. Decorate it to look as authentic as possible. Then, write 3 paragraphs about
the use of pottery by the Nubians and Egyptians.
Pyramids
Research the Egyptian pyramids. Create two different kinds of pyramids using materials
that make your pyramid look authentic. The pyramids you create should be large enough to
display in the classroom. Write a report that is a minimum 3 paragraphs on the use and
importance of pyramids during the time of early Egypt and Nubia.
Food
Research the food eaten by the ancient Egyptians and Nubians. Write a report that is a
minimum of 3 paragraphs on the information you learned about the food they ate. Look for
a few Egyptian recipes that you would want to make and decide which food(s) you will
make and share with the class. You will be responsible for utensils and any paper products
you may need to serve and eat your food.
Gods and Goddesses
Egyptians were polytheistic. They had a huge number of gods and goddesses. You are to
research the religion of the Egyptians and choose several gods or goddesses that intrigue
you. Write a minimum of 5 paragraphs talking about at least 5 different gods or goddesses.
Include a picture of each gods or goddesses.
Independent Study
