The mission of Teen Leadership is to identify and develop each student’s Leadership attributes and skills. Teen leadership is a class designed to teach students to take responsibility, express themselves, and handle problems and decisions when they arise. This course builds personal responsibility and leadership skills through role-plays, group activities, speeches and projects. Outcomes: Through the Teen Leadership curriculum, students will: Develop a healthy self concept, healthy relationships and a sense of personal responsibility Understand Emotional Intelligence and the skills it measures including, selfawareness, self control, self-motivations and social skills Build skills in public speaking and communication as well as an understanding of personal image Develop an understanding of principle-based decision making and learn to make responsible personal and financial decisions Recognize and resist peer pressure Learn to become better family members and citizens Appreciate the need for vision in goal setting, personally and professionally In an effort to achieve success, we must form a partnership of effort, cooperation, encouragement, and help, both at school and at home. To do this, I have some basic rules which students are expected to follow. RULES 1. Listen and follow all directions provided. 2. Raise your hand before speaking, and leaving your seats. (Ex. No outbursts) 3. Respect your classmates and teacher. (Ex. No put downs or inappropriate remarks) 4. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. (Ex. SUPPLIES The following supplies are required for this course: #2 pencils, pens, 1 (2) pocket folder (with brads), (1) package of wide rule loose-leaf paper, colored pencils. INTERNET USAGE We will be using the Internet in Teen Leadership and it is important that the student is familiar with the KISD Acceptable Use Policy for use of The District Network System (DNS). If the Internet procedures are violated an office referral will be given. This is for the safety of the student.
