TEMPLATE C- Individual Placement Description Northern Deanery Foundation School (NDFS) North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust Individual Placement Description Placement Foundation 1 General Surgery (Breast & Endocrine/Upper GI/Lower GI) The department The department of General Surgery consists of 12 consultants, 4 specialty registrars and 1 CT2 covering General Surgery, Breast, Endocrine, Lower and Upper GI. The type of work to expect and learning opportunities The F1 doctors are responsible with other staff for the ward care of patients and maintenance of medical records. They will have the opportunity to work with the consultants in outpatient clinics. They will also have the opportunity to attend theatre sessions. Ward round Fri: Ward duties On call requirement There is a 1:12 rota for evening shifts and weekends. There is no night time commitment in this placement. Employer information North Cumbria Acute Hospitals NHS Trust was formed in April2001 and encompasses both the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, which was the first PFI Hospital in the UK, (comprising 444 beds), and the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven (which has 425 beds).
