CURRICULUM PAPER
Algebra 1P
Dear Parents and Students:
COURSE MATERIALS: Geometry is a course that combines math with many real-life applications. The textbook used is
McDougal Littell’s Geometry. Students should carry the following school supplies with them to class every day: spiral
notebook, highlighters, EXPO markers, and pencils.
WHAT DETERMINES YOUR MATH GRADE EACH QUARTER:
 Tests- generally there will be a test after each section we complete. A missed test must be made up upon your
return to school. It is your responsibility to get the test made up without falling behind on assignments. Tests or
quizzes that are not made up within the specified time will be entered into the gradebook as a ‘zero’ or ‘NC.’

Quizzes- will be given periodically.

Assignments- will be required to do, worth 5 points each. Late assignments are accepted but will result in
points being deducted.

Notebook- will be collected and graded on day of exam.

Projects will be assigned from time to time.

Participation- will be required of everyone, including (but not limited to) demonstration of homework
assignments on the board, classroom or group activities and/or discussions.
The following grades will be assigned based on the final percent you earned in the course:
A = 90 – 100%, B = 80 – 89%, C = 68 – 79%, D = 67 – 60%, F = below 60%.
Categories are weighted as follows: 60% Summative Assessments (Tests & BM), 30% Formative Assessments
(Quizzes, Projects, Warm ups, Classwork), and 10% Homework.
CONFERENCE PERIOD: My conference period is period 4 from 11:13 a.m. – 12:14 p.m. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to call me at (714) 663 – 6215.
Respectfully,
Scott Lee

ASSERTIVE DISCIPLINE PLAN
Dear Parents and Students:
I expect students in my classroom to behave in an appropriate, courteous manner. Therefore, I will use the following
Discipline Plan to guarantee all students the learning environment they deserve.
Behavior Rules:
1. Students will be in their seats and prepared to work when the tardy bell rings.
2. Students will be respectful toward others in the room and their property.
3. Students will work at their seats unless given permission to do otherwise.
4. Students will not use profanity, talk loudly, or make inappropriate comments.
5. Students will follow all verbal instructions, not causing class disturbance.
6. Students will not bring food, candy, drinks, or gum into the classroom.
Consequences:
1. Verbal warning to student.
2. Detention and parent contact.
3. Referral to Assistant Principle.
Tardy Policy:
I firmly believe that in order to achieve and sustain an environment that’s conducive to learning, students must be
punctual to class. Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to work when the tardy bell rings; otherwise,
they will be marked tardy. Excessive tardiness impedes student learning and creates disruption for the entire class.
Therefore, please advise your students to get to class on time! Please note that after the third tardy, students will
receive an unsatisfactory “U” work habits grade.
Truancy Policy:
If you are truant to math class, you may not make up any points you missed (including tests, quizzes, and any other
assignments). You miss school, you miss out! It’s your choice!
Make – up Policy:
Make up work will be honored so long as it’s not a truancy. In addition, all absences must be cleared through the
Attendance office when an assignment is either given or due to receive any credit. No make up work will be accepted
for any assignments given when there is a substitute and the student was present in class!
Severe disruptions, insubordination, or defacing school or other people’s property will result in the student being sent
to the Assistant Principal. Excessive absences or tardies will result in a lower grade. In addition, profanity will not be
tolerated inside or outside the classroom. Any student caught using profanity will be sent to the Assistant Principal and
dealt with accordingly.
*Cheating (in any form) is prohibited. Any student caught cheating will be sent to the Assistant Principal’s office
and could result in a drop “F” grade.
It is in the student’s best interest that we all work together to provide the best possible learning environment in the
classroom. Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to an exciting and wonderful new year.
Sincerely,
Scott Lee
