DEPARTED ALL SOULS’ DAY
The souls of the just are in God’s hands. Christ, the Good
Shepherd, died for us while we were still sinners. He is the
resurrection and the life. If we have died with him, we shall
also live with him.
Rooted in ancient Christian tradition, St. Odilo of Cluny
established a memorial of all the faithful departed in 988. It was
accepted in Rome in the 13th century.
