The Graduate Student Travel Grant program for graduate students has been established to encourage the presentation of the results of research or scholarly activity by providing small travel grants for degree-seeking students enrolled in master's or doctoral programs. This year there will be grants awarded of up to $200. Awards will be made without regard to quotas or distribution among fields and departments; however, no student will be funded for more than one trip in an academic year. Funds are limited and students applying to the program are not guaranteed support.
Eligibility: All degree-seeking graduate students at VCU are eligible. Students receiving funding must be presenting.
You can only apply in the semester that you are presenting and must turn in your application at least two weeks prior to travel. Summer travel is not being considered at this time.
Application process: An abstract with a simple explanation in 300 words or less, verification of the presentation, a letter of support from your advisor, and a budget showing how the funds will be used must be submitted. If your application is accepted you must provide original receipts from your trip to the Graduate School’s Dean’s Office. Those original receipts cannot be previously reimbursed with funds from any other VCU department.
Deadlines: Travel grants are accepted daily until May 2, 2015, but please be aware that they are reviewed and granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications that are incomplete will not be reviewed and will automatically be rejected and you will not be able to re-submit for the same conference.
