Deputy President

Adam Dennis
After two years on the SU I have learnt a great deal about the Union, events, finance and about how we
interact with ICU and the Faculty. As Social Secretary then Entertainments Chair I developed my leadership
skills that will enable me thrive as Deputy President and support other officers and students.
Most importantly I have learnt about what students want from their Union. I am passionately committed to
the SU and the services it provides and I hope that running to spend a third year as an officer reflects this.
I aim to:
- Make the SU more pro-active in its interaction with students by using the website more, with regular
updates and starting a Union blog and polls. I hope that this will increase the transparency of what your
Union is doing for you, engage you more in the running of your Union and make better use of what is an
underutilised resource.
- Provide more support for all students by running and publicising informal sessions at the Reynolds and SAF
to provide help with everything from welfare, to accommodation issues to elective planning.
- Hold regular SU drop-in clinics at the Reynolds, with the Treasurer, for Clubs and Socs to discuss finance
and to provide more guidance for event planning by extending the events sections of the C&S Handbook.
I feel that given my experience and passion for the SU I can really make an impact throughout my fifth year
at Medical School.
Thank you,

The past year as ICSMSU Treasurer has, at times, been very challenging and I have therefore thought hard
about the decision to run for Deputy President. Although a tough year, it has been incredibly rewarding and
an absolute privilege so I would be truly appreciative of your vote and a second year representing the
student body.
Experience
The nature of my current role means I am involved in numerous Union processes aside from the finances
including all ICSM events, clubs and societies, sites and services, merchandise, and ICU liaison and
meetings. It is my previous experience that makes me best suited to the Deputy President role.
The Position and My Pledge
I believe the position has two parts. As Deputy, you must be both approachable and supportive of fellow
Union officers and the student population. Secondly, and most importantly, the Deputy should be an
ambassador of ICSM. The role is often obscure but, if I am elected, I will commit to making a real difference
to students and the Union. My previous experience means I can take an active role rather than sitting on the
side lines, and offer useful advice to my peers and drive the SU forward.
For those of you that know me, you will know I’m a doer. I would also like to think I’m a friendly, openminded and organised person that can make a great addition to the SU team. If you want someone you can
rely on then vote Jack for Deputy!
