Classroom Rules and Procedures Mrs. L. Dierks 2008-2009 I. Rules 1. Be on time and be prepared. *Tardies will be assigned if you are not in the classroom at the ringing of the bell. *Textbooks, notebooks, pen/pencil, and completed homework assignments are needed every class period. 2. Be respectful of a learning environment. *Stay quiet and in your seats while the teacher in conducting class. *Raise your hand and wait to be called on by the teacher rather than speaking out loud. *Be courteous to others in the classroom. *The volume control chart will be used in the classroom. There are appropriate levels of sound for different things-be at the appropriate level. 3. Cell phones and other electronic devices *I should never see cell phones, iPods, etc. *These items will be confiscated and turned into the office. II. Procedures 1. Entering classroom Read the board for daily agenda and attendance “assignment” Gather all materials that will be needed for the day Place backpacks and purses on shelves or by student computer on floor Homework assignment is turned into basket Noise level should be at a 1-2. 2. During class period Listen attentively to what is being taught. While I am teaching sound level should be 0 (mute). Follow along with notes and participate in class discussions. When class discussions are taking place, the sound level should never rise above a 3. 3. Before bell rings Work on homework assignments until the teacher has instructed otherwise. When instructed, the students may get their backpacks and purses. Students will remain in their seats until the bell rings. Sound level should not rise above a 1-2. III. Miscellaneous Bathroom and Drinks You will be given three bathroom/drink passes per semester. Use them wisely as you will not receive more-once they’re gone… Late homework assignments and make-up quizzes Homework is due at the beginning of class. If you hand it in at the end of class, it is considered late. Each week there will be a list of Last Chance Assignments and those assignments listed have to be handed in by the Friday of that week. If an assignment or quiz is not turned in by the last chance Friday, then it will become a permanent zero. Food and drink in the classroom Water is the only allowed drink in class. Sodas, Gatorade, slushies, etc. will not be allowed. If you have one from lunch or passing periods, it will need to be placed in your backpack for the class period. Food is also prohibited in the classroom. This is a lab class and there are nasty things in this room… On occasion, there may be reward days where food and drinks are allowed, but you will be notified when these day occur. Listen very carefully to directions. 2. Absolutely no horseplay. *Horseplay and the like will result in immediate withdrawal from the classroom with a referral and you will be given an additional assignment. 3. Appropriate safety equipment will be worn at all times during lab. 4. All equipment needed for the lab will be provided. *If there is something that you need, please ask, do not get it yourself. 5. Be careful and aware of your surroundings in the lab. *If something breaks or spills-let me know immediately. *Carry equipment properly and watch for electrical cords when moving around room. 6.
