Lochardil Primary School P4 Learning Overview Term 3 2015-16 Welcome back to another busy term in P4. This overview is to share what your child will be learning this term. It will also give you a brief insight in to how the class is run on a day to day basis, routines particular to our class, and expectations set. Golden Time is on a Wednesday/ Friday to work towards. Our class ‘Well Done Wall’ celebrates achievements both within and out- with school. So remember to share with us any ‘Wows’ your child has so we can celebrate too. At Lochardil we place importance on developing global citizens through Learning for Sustainability. We are currently using Rights Respecting Schools as a focus for driving forward our work and every month we have a Right of the Month. For this term they include – January- Article 24: Health February - Article 17: Safety of information March- Article 28,29: Education Below are the key learning experiences that the class will be working on through a variety of activities designed to encourage your child to learn new knowledge, skills, values and attitudes. I have shared the 3 core learning areas and also our class theme to provide you with a general picture of what is happening during term 3 within our class. By the end of this term I would expect most children to have achieved the targets listed below, and for all children to have achieved and attained as the best they can. Term 3 2015-2016 Lochardil Primary School Literacy (including reading, writing, talking Numeracy and Mathematics By the end of Term 3, most children will be and listening)By the end of Term 3, most able to: children will be able to: Present a talk to the class Collect, organise, display and interpret data Read aloud with understanding and expression Add and subtract using different strategies Use punctuation correctly and effectively Tell the time use both analogue and digital clocks Communicate clearly when engaging with others Have quick recall of the multiplication and division facts for 6,7,8 and 9 X tables Health and Wellbeing By the end of Term 3, most children will be able to: Interdisciplinary StudiesBy the end of Term 3, most children will be able to: Sustain physical activity for an increasing length of time Use different sources to find out information about the past Develop throwing and catching skills Develop an understanding of life in the past Work with others as part of a team Have an increased awareness of their local area and sense of place Identify the rights to which we are entitled and accept the responsibilities that go with them Understand how past events impact on our lives today Our topic this term is The Highland Clearances.
