Friday 12th December Dear Parents and Carers, It is nearly Christmas, yay! We are still busy working though, with some fun activities too. This week we have continued our non-fiction and have written our own recounts about our school trip to Bygones. We are really looking forward to our topic in January which will be ‘royalty’. As you know, on Tuesday 13th January we will be having a fairytale hook day. Please can the children come to school dressed up as their favourite fairytale character? I’m certain magic will happen on that day… Next term we will be learning the abridged meeting tale ‘Prince Cinders’ by Babette Cole. It is a hilarious twist on the classic fairytale ‘Cinderella’. We will be learning some very exciting sentence types to up-level our writing. Have a look at this interactive book of Prince Cinders, http://www.slideshare.net/fengchuishaster/prince-cinders-4520685 In maths this week we have been consolidating our work from last week by using place value to solve problems. Over the Christmas holidays it would be brilliant to really revise and secure the children’s number bonds within 20 and their counting in 2s, 3s and 5s from 0 and in 10s from any number. You could make this a game! Thank you for your support. Congratulations to all of the children and staff behind the first Nutcracker Performance. It was fantastic!!! How exciting to see Queen Victoria there, I do hope she enjoyed it. I must say a huge thank you to Mrs Green, Mrs Herrera, Mrs Squibb and Mrs White who are so busy working behind the scenes doing things that are amazing and well beyond my skill level! We had a fantastic RE dazzle day on Judaism. We each made a beautiful yad to use with our special books at home. Maybe you could use your yad to help read books at home instead of using your finger. Next week on the last day of term, we will have a whole school Christmas Party day where the children can bring a small plate of food to eat as well as eating their lunch, a toy to play with in a named bag and wear mufti for the day. Please see the return of this sheet for the new spring term show and tell rota.
