Overview
The goal of comprehensive health education is to help students achieve their
fullest potential by attaining their highest level of health and wellness as students

the interrelationships of physical, behavioral, and social well-being and the

consumers.

Materials
You are expected to bring the following materials with you to class everyday:
1. Paper
2. Pen or pencil
3. School ID
Binder
By Tuesday, January 15th all students are required to have a binder or a
section on a binder designated for health. Your binder must also have lined
paper. This will be a 20-point assignment. If you have a separate binder just for
health class, you can leave it in the class bin in the back of the room.
Grading
Grading Scale:
90-100 = A
80-89 = B
70-79 = C
60-69 = D
59 or below = F - you will have to repeat the course to graduate
Grade Percentages:
40% - Assignments (in-class and homework)
10% - Daily Warm-Ups
50% - Quizzes/Tests
3rd quarter – 40%
4th quarter – 40%
Final Exam – 20%
Final Exam:
The final exam is cumulative and is worth 20% of your semester grade.
If you have 4 or less absences from class (including sweeps, excused or
unexcused absences) and have a 75% or better, you do NOT have to take the
final exam. A school field trip or campus event does not count as an absence. If
you are exempt, you can choose to take the final to improve your grade. Even if
you are exempt from the final, you are still required to attend class on the day of
final exams.
Homework
Homework is due at the beginning of the class period. Any assignments turned in
late will be worth HALF credit unless you have an excused absence.
Warm-Ups
At the beginning of each class period, there will be a warm-up activity. You will
get a weekly handout for recording your warm-up answers. You cannot turn in a
warm-up on a separate paper. All the warm-ups for the week must be on the
same handout, turned in every Friday.
Rules
1) Follow all rules and procedures outlined in the student handbook
2) Treat teachers, fellow students, guest speakers, and property with respect
3) No food or drink in class expect for water
4) No cell phones or headphones will be used during class. If they are out, they
will be confiscated. After your first offense, your cell phone will be turned in to
administration
5) Sit in your assigned seat everyday
Tardies/Sweep You are considered tardy if you are not in the classroom when the bell rings. If
you are not in the room when the last bell rings, you will be sent to the sweep
room.
 If you are swept when as assignment is due, you must turn in that
assignment that day to receive full credit
 If you miss a test or quiz while you are in sweeps, you must come to my
room right after school to make up that test or the grade will result in a zero
 It is your responsibility to get any notes or assignments that were given
during the class that you missed.
 If you are swept more than 3 times, your make-up work will not be accepted
and all missing assignments will be entered as zeros.
 The sweep-make up work procedures also apply to missing class for ISD or
evening school
Attendance
If you are absent from school for any reason, make sure your parents call the
attendance office at (480) 812-7703. Failure to call the attendance office within
24 hours of the absence will result in an unexcused absence. If your absence is
unexcused, you will not be allowed to make-up any missed assignments,
quizzes, or tests.
Make-up Work You are responsible for all work you miss if you are not in class. I will not accept
make-up work for full credit unless your absence was excused. You can get
copies of missed class work and assignments from the make-up work folders.
Beginning of
