10ml Dish Soap
Banana
Salt 1 tbsp
110 ml water
Alcohol
Strainer

Mix water with dish soap, stir. Add a lil salt
Slice banana, put inside a platstic bag.
Pour the mixture, mash.
Put the strained misture to another container(smaller amount)
Pour the chilled alcohol
Wait for five minutes.
DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid can be found inside the cells of organisms. It's tiny, but we can see it by
extracting DNA and isolating chains of it. For this specific experiment, the dishwashing solution used
contains sodium laurel sulfate, or SLS, that aids in the breakdown of fats and proteins of the banana.
Once these membranes are broken apart, the DNA is then released from the inside of the banana cell.
The purpose of the chilled alcohol, on the other side, is to let the solution precipitate. After that, the
Banana DNA is finally isolated from the rest of its cell components.
