Resolution No. 13 A Resolution recommending all Austin Peay State University professors to be required to email students the class syllabus a week prior to the beginning of each term. This email should include information regarding the attendance policy, required literature, course format, prerequisites, and grading policy. With this change, all students will benefit from an increased awareness of course objectives. WHEREAS, SGA exists “The purpose of the SGA of APSU is to be the voice of all students…” WHEREAS, many students have expressed concern due to the lack of communication between themselves and professors prior to the beginning of classes each semester, WHEREAS, students often purchase unnecessary materials that professors choose not to make assignments from, WHEREAS, students have registered and shown up to classes unprepared and unaware of details such as; hybrid and/or online requirements, supplementary assignments, etc. WHEREAS, this would improve communication between students and professors and increase the clarity of course requirements, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE 64TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE AUSTIN PEAY STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION THAT: Section 1: Upon passage of this Resolution, the Student Government Association will issue a formal recommendation to the Provost office and IT Department to explore the feasibility of requiring all professors to send an email to students a week prior to the beginning of each term including the syllabus and information regarding the attendance policy, required literature, course format, prerequisites, and grading policy. __________________________ Sponsoring Senator __________________________ SGA Chief Justice __________________________ SGA President __________________________ Chief Student Affairs Officer (or designee) __________________________ Date of Approval
