A Resolution encouraging Austin Peay State University Student Government Association to request that the Foy Recreation and Fitness Center be open to use to students that attended Austin Peay State University in the spring semester and are currently enrolled to attend in the fall semester of the following year. WHEREAS, SGA exists “to serve as the voice of the students, and to make sure their thoughts and needs are heard and addressed to increase their quality of life.” WHEREAS, students have expressed concerns with not being able to use the Foy Recreation and Fitness Center and other recreational facilities over the summer when they were specifically built for them. WHEREAS, allowing students to use the Foy Recreational Center would encourage more campus life over the summer. WHEREAS, other schools allow access to these types of facilities over the summer. WHEREAS, by implementing this plan, it would allow for students to stay active on campus as well stay physically fit while promoting the use of the Foy Recreation and Fitness Center. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE 64TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE AUSTIN PEAY STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION THAT: Section 1: Upon passage of this Resolution, the Student Government Association will issue a formal recommendation to Austin Peay State University to explore the feasibility of allowing students to use the Foy Center for summer use Submitted by: Senator Collier
