Mrs. O’Connell’s Parent Newsletter Classroom Needs: Pencils and glue sticks Week of 4-4-2016 Hello, I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break. I am looking forward to hearing all the stories from the children. Thank you for all the Easter eggs for the Easter egg hunt. The children had a great time. Also a special shout out to Mrs. Booth and Mrs. Volpe for hiding all of the eggs. IMPORTANT REMINDERS: April 6—Spring Pictures April 8—Talent Show April 12—Report Cards April 15—Bingo Night April 20—Early Release Day April 28—Field Trip This week in School: Reading: This week we will be learning about different types of poetry and figurative language. We will also be reading Scholastic News. The test on the back of the Scholastic News will be due on Friday. Vocabulary: Wordly Wise lesson 11. Spelling: The students will get their new spelling words on Monday. Spelling test will be on Friday. Writing: Our next probe will be due on April 15, 2016. It will be a student’s choice probe. Math: We are learning about variable and expressions, function tables, and order of operation. We will have a Math quiz on Thursday. Science: We will continue to learn about Ecosystems. Ecosystem projects are due on Friday. Homework for week of 4-4-2016 Math-Order of operation practice and variables and Expressions practice I have placed links on my web page for practice. Reading-Scholastic News due on Friday. The children may also be writing poems if they do not complete them during Daily five. Spelling- write spelling words in cursive three times and study words for test on Friday. Wordly Wise- Pack due on Friday. Science-Ecosystem project due on Friday. Ecosystem vocabulary. Study science definitions for 15 minutes a night. We will have a L to J quiz every week.
