Thank you Week of 10-26-2015 Hello, Thank you to the six chaperones that will attend our class trip to Regal Corn Maze on Thursday. The children are looking forward to it. Don’t forget to send you child to school on Thursday with a bagged lunch unless you noted on the permission slip that your child will get bagged lunch from the cafeteria. IMPORTANT REMINDERS: October 29—Field Trip: Regal Corn Maze October 29th—Box Top Turn in October 30—Teacher Workday November 2nd—Vision/Hearing Screening November 5th—Report Cards November 11th—Holiday November 16th- Science Fair Projects due. I have showed the students how they can log onto powerschool and check their grades. Ask your child to show you. October 27, is the last day of the first quarter. This week in School: Reading: We are reading Scholastic News Would you Eat This Skill: how to write a summary Grammar lesson: Common misspelled words. Wordly Wise: Lesson 5 Writing: The students will be writing summaries on the story Bug Bites. Our next probe will be due on November 6, 2015. The students always have two weeks to complete their probe. The topic will be the 13 Colonies. Social Studies: We will be learning about the thirteen colonies and the road to the Revolutionary War. Every day we learn about a new state and watch an information video for kids on the state. This week’s states we are learning about are: Idaho Illinois Indiana Iowa Math: We are taking a Moby Max placement test. I will be sending home a parent letter on Moby Max. We are learning division. Homework for week of 10-19-2015 Math: Halloween math pack. Reading: read 20 minutes each night. Vocabulary: Wordly Wise pack, Monday 5A, 5B, Tuesday 5C, 5D, Wednesday work on Narrative that will be due on November 2, 2015. Writing: Probe about life in the 13 Colonies, due November 6, 2015. Social Studies: Scholastic News test on back of magazine due Monday because of no school on Friday.
