Mrs. O’Connell’s Parent Newsletter Week of 10-12-2015 Reminders: Please send in Scholastic News payment if you have not done so already. Please send back Field Trip permission slips. Hello, The children did a great during the Fun Run on Friday. I was so proud of them. Thank you for our cheerleaders and for all of your parent support. Our class raised $804.99. Awesome! We have earned more than a few classroom awards. $100- Silly Sock Day: Monday (I told the children on Friday but I am sure they will need a reminder.) $200-Hat Day- Tuesday $300-20 minutes of game time: Wednesday $400- Popsicle Party, $500- Wacky Tacky Day Thursday $750- Pizza Party-Friday (Does anyone want to pick up some pizza on Friday for lunch at 12:15?) I will pay you for the pizza. I just need someone to deliver. We have a field trip to Regal Corn Maze on October 29,, 2015. I will not be at school that day, Mrs. Triscari will be my sub. I am going to California with my son to look at colleges. Michael is a senior. We booked our tickets before the field trip was scheduled. I am in need of some parent volunteers. If you are interested please email me because you will have to complete parent volunteer information for Mrs. Carr if you have not done so already. Spelling: Spelling test is on Friday. Wordly Wise: We are working on lesson 4 this week. Writing: The state probe is due on Friday. The children have time to work on this in school during writing but will have to complete it at home. Social Studies: We are shifting from science to Social Studies for the next few weeks. We will be learning about the thirteen colonies. This week’s states we are learning about are: Alaska Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Math: This week we are learning how to multiply decimals. Science: The children did great on their paper weather test on Friday. We have an online weather test on Tuesday. I will attach the study guide. Homework for week of 10-5-2015 Math: multiplying decimals. Reading: read 20 minutes each night. Vocabulary: Wordly Wise Monday 4A, 4-B, Tuesday 4-C, 4-D, Wednesday and Thursday complete the narrative. Spelling: study spelling words for Friday’s test. Writing: State Probe due on Friday, October 16, 2015. Social Studies: If they do not complete class assignment in school.
