Associate Director, Recreational Sports

FUNCTION: The Associate Director of Campus Recreation is responsible for assisting
in the overall administration, direction, management, and coordination of the
components, facilities, services and programs within the Department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Hiring, supervising, training, and evaluating
professional staff. Planning and securing of funding for facility maintenance and
improvements. Establishing departmental goals, objectives, and long-range plans.
Reviewing and revising departmental policies and procedures. Overseeing internal
controls and risk management within the Department. Developing, presenting, and
managing departmental budgets. Preparing bid specifications for major equipment and
computer purchases. Serve on University Committees. Occasionally drive a UTA
Vehicle. Other functions as assigned.

INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a
system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department
operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department
financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws,
regulations, policies, and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to standard office conditions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies,
Business Administration, or related field. 5 years of related full-time experience in a
collegiate recreational program. Experience must include budget management, employee
supervision, procedure and policy development and implementation, and excellent
written and verbal communications skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education
and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: NIRSA Specialist Certification; facility
management experience.

positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and
thereby subject to the provisions of Section §51.215 Texas Education Code.
